Deplatt 75mg is an anti coagulant drug (anti-clotting drug) which prevents the blood platelets from coagulating (clotting) that can be caused by some heart conditions or blood vessel disorders. This medication is usually prescribed after a recent heart attack or stroke in which the chances of blood clotting are very high. It is also used in people with some blood vessel conditions.Deplatt 75mg is made and sold under various trade names in different countries, some of which are Clopidogrel, Deplatt (made by Torrent Pharma).e.

Important Information about Deplatt 75mg

Clopidogrel (Clopidogrel, Deplatt) is an anti coagulant or blood thinner which makes you prone to bleeding easier, even with a minor injury. Contact your doctor or get emergency medical attention if you have bleeding that doesn’t stop. You may also have internal bleeding (bleeding in stomach or intestines). Signs of internal bleeding include black or bloody stools, bloody cough or vomit that looks like ground coffee (signs of bleeding in gastrointestinal tract)

Alcohol consumption can cause bleeding in your stomach or intestines while taking a blood thinner like Clopidogrel. Hence, alcohol consumption is not recommended while taking a blood thinner.

Let your doctor know in advance if you are also taking other anti coagulants. Also let your dentist know about your Clopidogrel medication usage if you need some dental work or surgery. You may have to stop this medication at least 5 days before your scheduled surgery date to prevent excessive bleeding. Follow your doctor’s advice and restart your Clopidogrel soon.

Do not take Clopidogrel 75 mg if you are allergic to it or if you have any acute bleeding problems such as peptic ulcer (ulcer in stomach) or bleeding in the brain (from a head injury). Remember to follow your doctor’s advice strictly.

Let your doctor know in advance if you have any of these conditions so that he or she can assess if you can take Clopidogrel safely: a bleeding or blood clotting disorder like TTP or thrombocytopenic purpura or hemophilia; a history of stroke, including TIA (mini stroke); peptic ulcer or ulcerative colitis; or kidney disease.

Deplatt 75mg belongs to FDA pregnancy category B which means it is not expected to cause any harm to your unborn baby if you take it during your pregnancy. It is not known whether Clopidogrel can pass into breast milk and harm a nursing baby.

How should I take Deplatt 75mg?

You must take Deplatt medication (Clopidogrel, Deplatt) exactly as mentioned on the label, or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Don’t alter the dosage of Clopidogrel either by larger or smaller amount or for longer than recommended period. What if I miss a dose?

If you miss a dose of Clopidogrel, take it as soon as you remember it. However, if the time to take the next dose is near, skip the missed dose and take the next dose as scheduled. Don’t take extra medication to compensate for the missed dose.

Get emergency medical attention or call the Doctor Immediately.

Things and Activities to avoid while taking Deplatt 75mg

Avoid drinking alcoholic beverages while using Deplatt 75mg, as alcohol can lead to stomach and intestinal bleeding. Also avoid activities that may cause injury or bleeding. Take extra care while shaving or brushing your teeth where chances of bleeding are quite high.

Deplatt 75mg Side Effects

Immediately stop using Clopidogrel (Clopidogrel, Deplatt) and seek medical attention if you get these serious side effects due to Clopidogrel, prominent among which are signs of external and internal bleeding: bleeding through nose or other nonstop bleeding; bloody or black stools (tarry color); bloody urine; or bloody cough or vomit that looks like ground coffee.

A less serious and very common side effect of Deplatt is itching.

The side effects listed above are not a complete set of side effects which you may experience due to Clopidogrel.

Let your doctor know if you feel anything amiss and serious after taking this medication.

Your dosage of Clopidogrel will be decided by your doctor. Follow your doctor’s advice carefully.

Interaction with other drugs

Some other medications may increase the likelihood of bleeding if taken with Clopidogrel (Clopidogrel, Deplatt). Let your doctor know if you are already taking medications such as Aspirin; NSAIDs (Non-steroidal Anti-inflammatory drugs) such as ibuprofen, naproxen, celecoxib, diclofenac, indomethacin, meloxicam, or others

Certain other medicines may increase your risk of bleeding. Tell your doctor if you take aspirin, especially if you have had a stroke. Talk to your doctor about whether you should take aspirin with Clopidogrel. Consult a doctor or pharmacist prior to taking NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs), including ibuprofen, naproxen (Aleve), celecoxib, diclofenac, indomethacin, meloxicam, and others; other blood clotting drugs like fondaparinux, ticlopidine, dalteparin, enoxaparin, tinzaparin, heparin, warfarin, Coumadin, or others; fluoxetine or fluvoxamine; armodafinil or modafinil; cancer drugs like dasatinib, letrozole, ibritumomab, or tositumomab; certain stomach acid reducers like cimetidine, esomeprazole, or omeprazole.

The drugs mentioned above are not the only ones which may interact with Clopidogrel (Clopidogrel, Deplatt). There may be others as well. Share the list of all medicines you use at present with your doctor and never start a new medication on your own.
