Onglyza 2.5MG (Saxagliptin)
Onglyza is specially formulated to treat adult patients with Type 2 diabetes who cannot lower blood sugar level enough through exercise and diet alone. It can be combined with other anti-diabetic agents such as sulfonylurea, metformin, or insulin. The medicine can be used as a monotherapy too if metformin is not well tolerated. The main goal is to avoid strong fluctuations in blood sugar levels of those patients who are suffering from Type 2 diabetes. The treatment also prevents long-term complications associated with high blood sugar. The medicine has Saxagliptin as the active ingredient which is clinically tested and approved to maintain blood sugar level in patients with Type 2 diabetes.
Uses of Onglyza
Onglyza 2.5 mg is an anti-diabetic medicine used either alone or with other medicines, in combination with diet and exercise to control high blood sugar. The active ingredient of the medicine is Saxagliptin, which falls into the category of diabetes medications called DPP-4 inhibitors. The medicine actively increases the amount of incretin hormone in the body which is released by the intestines. It increases the levels of insulin hormones when blood sugar is high and decreases the amount of sugar made in the body. Saxagliptin is given with metformin or a sulfonylurea medication like glyburide and gliclazide, or insulin to achieve control over blood sugar levels in adults with Type 2 diabetes. Use this antidiabetic agent as a part of an overall diabetes management plan that includes a healthy diet and regular exercise.
