Liofen 10 mg belongs to a class of medications known as muscle relaxants. They effectively treat muscular symptoms such as tension, stiffness, and rigidity due to various conditions such as multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, or injury to the head, spine, or brain. It contains the active ingredient baclofen, which blocks chemical messengers in the brain that are responsible for such symptoms. It is effective at relieving muscle spasms or stiffness, thereby improving muscle movement and maintaining the strength of the muscles.

The final dose of Liofen depends on how each individual responds to this medication. You will be advised to begin treatment with a low dose, and the dose will be increased gradually over a few days under the guidance of a doctor until you get the dose that is right for you. If the starting dose is too high, or if the dose increases too quickly, you may experience side effects, especially if you are elderly,  have kidney disease, or have had a stroke.  

For most benefits, take it as prescribed. Avoid taking for longer than needed as this can be dangerous. You should take the lowest dose that works well for the shortest possible time. You should take this medication regularly while you need it without missing doses that make the medicine less effective.

Precautions (warning, allergy, things to remember)

Do not take Liofen 10 mg if you are allergic to baclofen or other medicine ingredients or have had a stomach ulcer.   

Liofen 10 should be used with caution in patients with epilepsy. Deterioration in seizure control has been observed in patients taking baclofen. Before taking baclofen, you should inform your healthcare provider if you have had a stroke, high blood pressure, Parkinson's disease, diabetes, trouble urinating, 

It should be used cautiously in patients who have had a stroke. Liofen is not beneficial for patients with stroke. These patients have also shown poor tolerability to the medicine. This medication should be used with caution in patients suffering from psychotic disorders, schizophrenia, or confusional states. If treated with a baclofen preparation, these patients should be closely monitored because worsening of these conditions has been observed with oral baclofen usage.   

Alcohol should be consumed with caution when taking Liofen, as the effects of alcohol may be increased. You should not use this medication during pregnancy unless your health care provider advises. Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. If you are advised to take this medicine during pregnancy, your unborn baby will also be exposed to the medicine.   

Side effects

Some common side effects of Liofen 10 mg are fatigue, weakness, dizziness, and drowsiness. If these side effects do not resolve or worsen, seek immediate medical help. Your healthcare provider may be able to suggest ways of preventing or reducing the symptoms.
