Zyrik 300 mg

Zyrik is a medicine used to prevent the attack of gouty arthritis and neuropathy. It is effective in treating secondary hyperuricemia (high level of uric acid in the blood), which may occur during treatment of tumors or leukemias. The medicine inhibits the production of uric acid by inhibiting the action of xanthine oxidase. In this way, it lowers the serum uric acid levels.

About the drug

Zyrik has been discovered to treat gout, a type of arthritis caused by the build-up of uric acid crystals in the joint. Zyrik contains the active ingredient Allopurinol, which reduces the amount of uric acid made by cells. This prevents the build-up of uric acid crystals in the joints, and therefore helps prevent swelling of the joints. The medicine is taken on a long-term basis to prevent attacks of gout. It may take several weeks to reduce the level of uric acid, so you may continue to have gout attacks for some time during the treatment. Keep on taking medicine during such attacks together with any other pharmaceutical agent to manage pain. The drug such as colchicine or anti-inflammatory drugs may be recommended at the time of Allopurinol is started. Your healthcare specialist will advise you about how these medicines should be taken to attain maximum benefits.
