Tibofem 25 mg is a prescription medicine for the treatment of estrogen deficiency in postmenopausal women. It mimics the activities of the female hormone estrogen and restores the hormonal balance in the female body. The medicine contains the active ingredient Tibolone, which helps to relieve the symptoms of menopause caused by decreased levels of oestrogen after menopause or following surgical removal of ovaries in women. These symptoms include sleeplessness, headaches, lack of concentration, mood swings, hot flushes, loss of energy, and vaginal dryness. Your doctor may also prescribe Tibolone tablets for the prevention of postmenopausal bone loss, also called osteoporosis, and for reducing the risk of fracture.
Clinical uses of Tibofem
Tibofem 2.5 mg tablets are extremely beneficial for relieving estrogen withdrawal symptoms such as vaginal dryness, insomnia, hot flushes, headaches, and sweating. It is sometimes known as hormone replacement therapy (HRT). Tibolone, the active ingredient of the medicine helps restore the hormonal balance in order to relieve menopausal symptoms. Tibofem tablets also have other beneficial effects like reducing the risk of fracture and treating osteoporosis.
You should take Tibofem tablet once daily before or after consuming food. With its regular use, you will be able to see improvement within a few weeks, and you must continue the treatment for as long as recommended by your doctor. Possible Side Effects

- Breast tenderness
- Genital itching
- Yeast infection
- Abnormal growth of the cervix
- Inflammation of the vagina and vulva
- Lower abdominal pain
- Thickened endometrial wall
- Vaginal candidiasis
Other health risks associated with the long-term use of Tibolone tablets include stroke, breast cancer, deep vein thrombosis, endometrial cancer.
If you are taking more than one medicine or mixing it with certain beverages or foods, consider yourself at risk of drug interaction. Do not take the following drugs with Tibofem:
- Forxiga 5 mg
- Gonablok 200 mg capsules
- Apidra 100Iu cartridge 3 ML
- Nolvadex 10 mg tablet
- The medicine should not be given to people with known hypersensitivity to Tibolone or any other ingredients of Tibofem tablets.
- Consult your doctor first if you have a history of breast cancer or an increased risk of breast cancer.
