Evalon 15 mg

Evalon 15 mg is a vaginal cream that contains an estrogen hormone. Evalon is prescribed to treat moderate to severe symptoms of vulvar and vaginal atrophy (drying, thinning, and inflammation of vaginal walls that occurs because of less estrogen). Vaginal atrophy, also known as atrophic vaginitis, occurs most often after menopause.

The vaginal cream delivers estrogen directly to the vagina, which helps restore thickness to the vaginal skin and flexibility. The cream can also normalize the vaginal area lowering the risk of urinary tract infections. It treats the symptoms of menopause associated with the genitals and urinary organs, such as vaginal burning, dryness, and itching of the vaginal area. It causes a significant reduction in the symptoms of urinary urgency and irritation with urination. This estrogen vaginal cream is also effective in preventing urinary tract infections in perimenopausal and postmenopausal women.

How to use (infographics and instructions)

Start by using the estrogen cream every night for two weeks. After two weeks of regular use, reduce the application time by using the cream 2 to 4 times per week. It is best to use the vaginal cream at bedtime, so there is less leakage of the topical product. Evalon comes in a tube with an applicator to insert the cream into the vagina. Consult your doctor for specific instructions for the application of the cream. The applicator can be uncomfortable for some users who may prefer applying the vaginal estrogen using their fingers.

Application instruction:

Wash your hands with soap and water thoroughly before and after using this medicine. Squeeze it to apply a pea-sized amount of cream onto your fingertip. Locate the vaginal opening, and above the vaginal opening is the urethra. Spread the cream evenly into the vaginal and urethral areas. It is not necessary to push the topical medicine high into the vagina. Please check with your doctor if you have any doubts about using this vaginal cream.

Precautions (warning, allergy, things to remember)

Evalon cream should not be used in women with undiagnosed abnormal bleeding, suspected estrogen-dependent neoplasia, active arterial thromboembolic disease, the liver function of the disease, known antithrombin deficiency, or suspected pregnancy. If you have a history of endometrial or breast cancer, you should talk to your doctor about your risk of cancer recurrence before using topical estrogen. A high degree of hygiene needs to be maintained to avoid possible infection. It is usually applied with a plastic applicator inserted in the vagina as per the direction provided in the prescription. The recommended dose may vary during treatment as per improvement after applying the topical estrogen.
