What is Aerocort rotacaps used for?

Aerocort Rotacaps is a combination drug containing an active (R)-enantiomer of the racemate and a synthetic glucocorticoid with a potent anti-inflammatory activity prescribed for treatment of asthma in patients aged 12 years and older.

How does Aerocort rotacaps work?

Aerocort Rotacaps contains two main ingredients Beclomethasone Dipropionate and Levosalbutamol Sulphate. Beclomethasone is a glucocorticoid with anti-inflammatory properties as it is steroidal drug having high affinity to the cytoplasmic receptors and inhibits the formation of chemical mediators that results in inflammation of lungs. This medication selectively targets on factors causing inflammation and stops them and doesn’t permit them to accumulate and cause asthma.

On other hand, Levosalbutamol Sulphate is a beta receptor agonist and it result in bronchi dilatation effects. Levosalbutamol Sulphate stimulates the beta-2 receptors and results in smooth muscles relaxation of all airways from the trachea to the terminal bronchioles. This chemical promotes relaxing of constricted bronchioles and facilitates the smooth breathing.
