Bimatoprost eye drop 0.03% has been successfully used for many years to treat glaucoma. It is a prostamide, a synthetic prostaglandin structural analogue primarily used to reduce intraocular pressure in patients with ocular hypertension and glaucoma. This medicine is extremely beneficial in regulating the fluid flow within the eye to maintain normal eye pressure. Enhanced eyelash prominence was observed in these patients as a side effect while examining the effectiveness of Bimatoprost drops as an ocular hypertensive agent. This finding led to forming Bimatoprost as an effective treatment for eyelash hypotrichosis (inadequate eyelashes). Applying these eye drops to the upper lash line once daily before bed increases eyelash growth along with a significant increase in eyelash thickness and darkness. It promotes healthy eyelash growth as well as thin eyelashes.
The product is generally safe when applied to the base of the upper lash line. However, side effects associated with this eye care solution may occur when it meets the eyes' surface, and patients must be aware of unwanted hair growth as an adverse effect of ophthalmic preparation. When used in glaucoma patients, the pharmaceutical ingredients have a favourable safety and tolerability profile. Use this medication regularly to get the desired results. It may take up to two months before a noticeable change is seen.
