 B-Bact 5 gm mupirocin ointment U.S.P. 2% w/w is recommended for the treatment of some bacterial skin infections, such as impetigo and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). This medication is widely prescribed to diagnosis skin infections as well as other bacterial diseases. Moreover, this ointment may also be prescribed for other conditions as determined by the doctor.

 How does B-Bact Ointment work?

B-Bact ointment belongs to the group of medicines having anti-bacterial agents. It works by preventing some particular bacterial enzymes that prevent bacterial protein synthesis, thus restraining the growth of the bacteria. In this way, it prevents skin infection from spreading.

What does B-Bact contain?

The main active ingredient in B-Bact is Mupirocin which is an antibiotic ointment. This ingredient can treat various types of skin infections such as infection in hair follicles, an outbreak of pimples that contain pus, skin blisters and recurring boils on the skin. It can also eliminate various bacteria which are responsible for causing other skin infections like Staphylococci, Streptococci and E. coli. Mupirocin sold under the brand name Bactroban and Centany is a topical antibiotic which is useful against superficial skin infections.

How to use B-Bact ointment?

This ointment is for external use on the skin only. The dosage of this drug is largely depended on the age, weight and medical condition of the user. Just apply a thin layer of this ointment on the affected area and then try to rub it gently. Use the drug as per the prescribed amount during the prescribed medication course

Precautions:

B-Bact 5gm mupirocin ointment should not be used in the case of fungal or viral infection. This medicine is not prescribed for those who are allergic to any of its ingredients, have kidney problems, open wounds, burns, and cuts. Avoid its contact from eyes, ears, and mouth as it may cause irritation and swelling. Do not use Mupirocin after the expiry date stated on the package.

Side effects of B-Bact medicine:

The possible side effects of B-Bact include diarrhea, nausea, bloody stools, stomach pain, skin irritation, and cramps. Swollen face and difficulty breathing are also possible in some cases.

What if you miss a dose B-Bact?

If you miss a dose of B-Bact 5gm ointment, please use it immediately once you remember. If you are about to take the next dose in the next few minutes, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not use a double dose to compensate for the loss of the missed dose.
