Brimodin eye drop 5ml is an ophthalmic solution for treating ocular hypertension and glaucoma. It reduces elevated pressure inside the eye and lowers the risk of vision loss. The Ophthalmic product may be used alone or with another eye preparation that helps reduce pressure inside the eye. It contains the active ingredient Brimonidine, which decreases the release of aqueous humour (fluid within the eye) and reduces eye pressure.
Brimodin 5 ml should not be used in patients hypersensitive to any ingredient present in the medicine in the past. If the tips of the container come into contact with the eye or surrounding structures, the ocular solution may become contaminated by common bacteria that cause ocular infections. Serious damage and subsequent loss of vision may occur due to contaminated solutions. Do not use it if the ophthalmic preparation becomes cloudy. Immediately seek medical help if you have ocular surgery or develop an infection. Patients are advised to remove contact lenses before instilling the eye drop, and they may be reinserted fifteen minutes after its administration.
If more than one eye preparation is used, then there should be a gap of five minutes between both formulations. Brimonidine may cause drowsiness and fatigue in some patients. Also, it may make your vision blur; therefore, be cautious while driving or operating heavy machines.
In some people, brimonidine eye drops may cause common side effects such as irritation, watery eyes, abnormal taste, foreign body sensation in the eye, burning, or abnormal vision. Most of Brimonidine's side effects are temporary, do not require medical help, and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, speak to your ophthalmologist.
Instil one drop by pulling down the lower eyelid, creating a pocket between the eyelid and the eye. You can instil eye drops by squeezing the container. If you wear contacts, remove them before using the ocular suspension and wait for at least fifteen minutes before wearing them back. Due to insufficient evidence, the ophthalmic product is not recommended for children under twelve.
