Cystopen, manufactured by Sun Pharmaceuticals, is prescribed for the treatment of inflammation in the bladder, the condition is referred to as interstitial cystitis. The medicine is extremely beneficial in relieving bladder pain and discomfort associated with interstitial cystitis. The active ingredient of the medicine is Pentosan polysulfate, which forms a protective layer over the bladder wall and helps to protect it from harmful substances in the urine.

Dosing Instructions

It is important to read the prescription before you start using this medicine. Generally, the medicine is taken by mouth at least an hour before or two hours after meals thrice daily. Take the medicine on regular basis to get the most benefit. You are not supposed to increase or decrease your dose or make any changes in your dosing pattern. Your condition will not improve fast if you take more doses than prescribed, so take it exactly as your health care specialist prescribes it. Let your health care specialist know if your condition worsens or does not improve within three months of regular usage.

Side Effects

Drug Interactions

Make sure that you don’t start any new medicine without first checking with your health care specialist. Avoid taking Cystopen, with the following drugs because serious interactions may occur:

• Warfarin
• NSAIDs
• Sulfinpyrazone
