Desowen lotion 0.05% is a medication prescribed to reduce skin inflammation and irritation caused by conditions such as dermatitis, eczema, rash, and certain allergies. It comprises of the active ingredient Desonide, a corticosteroid medication which works by reducing the redness, swelling, and itching that occur in these conditions that are highlighted above. The generic form of Desowen is available as DeSowen. Rub and massage the formulation on the affected area of the skin gently till it spread evenly all over the affected skin area. The product is not recommended for use in patients less than three months of age.

Desowen is a topical steroid available in the form of a lotion to treat itching and inflammation caused by several skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, and allergic reactions. It is prescribed to stop skin cells from producing certain chemicals that are responsible for causing inflammation. These chemical are usually released when the skin reacts to a substance that triggers an allergic reaction.
If you have had measles, chickenpox, tuberculosis, and shingles, alert your health care specialist about this information. Desowen 0.05% is a topical formation applied on the skin which makes it safer to use as there is a little chance of it to interact with other medications. If you feel Desowen is not helping you to treat your irritation and inflammation caused by conditions that are highlighted above. Let him know if you have not been using it the way he told you to; otherwise, your health care specialist may think that the medication is not effective and will change your treatment unnecessarily.
Use Desowen lotion only on the skin. Wash your hand before applying the lotion and make sure you apply on clean and dry skin. You need to apply a thin film of the formulation to the area of the skin and gently rub it into the skin. Generally, the lotion is applied 2 to 3 times daily, and the user is advised not to wear any bandage or wrap the treated area with clothing. Unless they are instructed to do so.
