How should Zocon DT be used?

The antifungal medicine comes as a tablet to take once daily with or without food.

Oropharyngeal candidiasis

For adults- The initial recommended dose is 200 mg, and then may increase up to 100 mg daily for at least two weeks.

For children above 14 days- The initial recommended dose is 6 mg/kg, then 3mg/kg/day for two weeks. Discuss the dose regimen for neonates below 14 days.

Esophageal candidiasis

Adults- 200 mg is the preferred dose. The dose may increase to 100 mg once daily for at least two weeks. These patients may take dose up to 400 mg depending on the health condition.

Children above 14 days- The started recommended dose is 6 mg, then 3 to 12 mg/kg daily for at least three weeks.

Vaginal candidiasis

The recommended dose is 150 mg daily for three days then weekly for six months.

Systemic Candidiasis

For adults- 400 mg is the preferred initial dose for patients with systematic candidiasis. The dose may increase to 200 to 800 mg daily for 28 days.

For children- The recommended dose is 6 to 12 mg/kg daily for 28 days.

Cryptococcal meningitis

For adults- Administer 400 mg once daily until favorable clinical response, then the dose may increase to 200 to 800 mg once daily for at least 10 to 12 week.

The recommended dose for suppressive therapy is 200 mg once daily. 

Children- 12 mg/kg daily is the initial recommended dose and then may increase up to 6 to 12 mg/kg daily for a period of at least 10 to 12 weeks. For suppressive therapy, 6 mg/kg daily is the preferred dose.

For Prevention of Candidiasis after bone marrow transplant

Adults- The treatment may begin with the dose of 400 mg once daily and continue for one week.

Children- The suggested dose is 10 to 12 mg/kg daily. Do not take more than 600 mg daily.

For renal impaired patients- 50% of the usual dose is preferred.

When should Zocon DT not be used?

The antifungal agent is not suitable for patients who have ever developed an allergic reaction to any of the ingredients of the medication. The symptoms may include trouble breathing, itching, reddening of the skin, etc.

How long should Zocon DT be used?

Continue taking Zocon DT tablets for as long as they are prescribed to you.

Missed dose of Zocon DT

In case, you miss a dose, take it if the time to take the next dose is far enough otherwise leave that dose and take your next scheduled dose. Avoid doubling up on doses; instead just carry on with your normal dosing regimen.

How should Zocon DT be stored?
