Flucort 0.025%

Flucort 0.025% is indicated for topical therapy of corticosteroid-responsive acute and chronic skin conditions, including psoriasis, eczema, rash, and skin allergies. It contains the active ingredient Fluocinolone acetonide, which belongs to a class of medications called corticosteroids that works by activating certain natural substances in the skin to reduce redness, itching, and swelling associated with the medication.   

How to use

Flucort 0.025% comes in the form of ointment for use on the skin. It is usually applied two to four times a day. Follow your prescription carefully and ask your doctor to explain any part of the treatment you do not understand. Use Flucort as topically exactly as directed. Do not apply the ointment to other areas of your body or wrap or use it for other skin conditions unless prescribed. Your skin condition should improve during the first two weeks of your treatment. Talk to your doctor if your symptoms do not improve.

To use Flucort, apply a small amount of medication to cover the affected skin area. Make sure a thin film is spread evenly over the affected skin's surface. Rub the formulation gently into the skin. Avoid using the product on facial skin, genital and rectal areas, armpits, and skin creases unless advised. You should not apply cosmetics or other skin preparations on the treated area.

Precautions

Inform your doctor of below conditions:

• If you are allergic to Fluocinolone, other medications, peanuts, or other ingredients in the medicine
• Mention what prescription and non-prescription drugs, vitamins, and herbal supplements you are taking or plan to take in the future. Also, mention corticosteroid medications and other topical medications.
• If you have skin infections or any other skin issues, diabetes, or Cushing syndrome (a condition caused by excess hormones)
• If you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding. If you conceive while using topical Fluociolone, talk to your doctor immediately.
• Don't let anyone else use this ointment. Ask your doctor any questions you have related to the usage of the medicine.

Side effects

Flucort may cause side effects. Inform your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away. These include acne, change in skin color, bruising or shiny skin, tiny red bumps around the mouth, and small white or red bumps on the skin. Call your doctor immediately if you experience hives, wheezing, severe skin rash,  difficulty breathing/swallowing, redness, swelling, or other signs of infections at the application site.

Children who use Flucort ointment may have an increased risk of side effects, including slowed growth. Speak to your child's doctor about the risks of using topical Fluocinolone on your child's skin.
