Hytrin 1 mg is used for the treatment of hypertension, and to improve urinary complications in men with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). The active ingredient of the medicine is Terazosin, which is in the group of drug known as alpha-adrenergic blockers. It enhances the flow of blood in the body by relaxing the blood vessels. When it comes to treating enlarged prostate or BPH, Terazosin helps to relax the muscles present in the bladder neck and prostate.

Dosing Instructions

The recommended adult dose of Hytrin for lowering blood pressure is 1 mg, preferably be taken at bedtime. The dose will slowly increase until the desired blood pressure response is achieved. The usual dose of Terazosin ranges from 1 mg to 5 mg daily. For the management of blood pressure, the Hytrin 1 mg is taken twice a day.

For the treatment of enlarged prostate, the recommended dose starts from 1 mg at bedtime which gradually increases at weekly intervals from 2 mg to 5 mg once daily according to the patient’s tolerance and treatment response. It may take 2 to 4 weeks to see improvement in the symptoms of BPH.

Important Information

If you are taking Hytrin for treating blood pressure, you must take the tablet even if you feel completely fine. Many people who are dealing with high blood pressure do not feel sick. Close monitoring is required to check the blood pressure levels.

For enlarged prostate, it may take 2 to 4 weeks to see an improvement before you see the full results of the medicine. You must call your doctor if you are did not notice any improvement in your condition.
