Idrofos 150mg
Idrofos 150mg is a formulation recommended to treat and prevent postmenopausal osteoporosis. It is specifically designed for those women who have gone through menopause or have weak bones due to osteoporosis.
Idrofos active ingredient, Ibandronic acid, belongs to a class of drugs called bisphosphonates. Ibandronic acid is a bone-strengthening agent that works by attaching to bone and slowing bone turnover. It slows bone breakdown and encourages bone formation. The therapy helps to ensure that your bones stay healthy. Idrofos administration may reverse bone loss by increasing bone mass and preventing further bone loss in women. It helps reduce the risk of fractures. The reduction in fractures was observed in the spine, but not in the hip. The earlier a woman reaches the menopause, the greater the risk of getting fractures in osteoporosis. Other factors that can increase the risk of fractures include insufficient calcium and vitamin D in the diet, smoking/drinking too much alcohol, not having enough walking or weight-bearing exercises, and a family history of osteoporosis.
While taking Idrofos 150 mg, a healthy lifestyle will also help you get the most benefit from your osteoporosis treatment. This includes eating a balanced diet rich in vitamin D and calcium, getting enough physical activity, such as walking or other weight-bearing exercises, and avoiding alcohol and smoking.
Idrofos 150mg should not be used in patients with known hypersensitivity to Ibandronic acid or any other inactive ingredient in the formulation. It should not be administered to people who are unable to stand or sit upright for at least 60 minutes. The medicine is not suggested for use in patients with hypocalcemia. Patients with oesophageal problems are advised not to take Idrofos 150 mg. Before receiving the Ibandronic formulation, let your healthcare specialist know if any of the following apply to you:
- You don’t receive routine dental care or have not had a dental checkup for a long time.
- You smoke, as this factor may increase the risk of dental problems.
- You have issues with your mouth or teeth, such as poor dental health, gum disease, or a planned tooth extraction.
- You previously received bisphosphonate to treat and prevent bone disease.
- You are taking corticosteroids such as dexamethasone or prednisolone.
- Your healthcare specialist may advise you to have a dental assessment before starting to receive Ibandronic acid for osteoporosis.
Certain drugs can affect the pharmacokinetics of Idrofos. These include any antibiotics, calcium supplements, ferrous sulfate, medicines containing aluminium, calcium, iron, or magnesium, antacids (used for the treatment of indigestion), and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as indomethacin, diclofenac, ibuprofen, and naproxen. It is necessary to tell your healthcare specialist about all the medications that you are using during the treatment with Ibandronic acid. This will reduce the chance of drug interaction.
