Lonitab 10 mg contains Minoxidil, which treats certain hypertension cases. It is generally used as a second-line treatment when other antihypertensive agents are ineffective or unsuitable for a patient. It relaxes and widens the blood vessels, allowing blood to flow more easily and decreasing blood pressure. Minoxidil oral tablets are reserved for severe cases of high blood pressure-lowering medications.

Lonitab 10 mg may not be suitable for everyone. To make sure this medication is safe for you. Let your healthcare provider know of all the medications you are taking or if you have any pre-existing medical conditions. They will tell you how many tablets you must take daily. Thus, usually depends on your condition and whether you take any other medications. 

Usually, you may be prescribed two other medications along with Lonitab. This helps lower blood pressure and help prevent unwanted effects of Minoxidil.   

Precautions (warning, allergy, things to remember)

Do not take it if you have ever been allergic to Minoxidil or any ingredients. Avoid taking it if you have had a rare tumor of the adrenal gland or pulmonary hypertension (high blood pressure in the vessels of the lung, Talk to your healthcare provider if you have any other medical conditions, take any other medicines, are pregnant or plan to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding.

Check with your healthcare provider if you have allergies to other medicines, foods, preservatives, or dyes. Especially inform of any other medical conditions about fast heart rate, chest pain, symptoms of heart failure, renal failure, liver disorder, unstable or mild hypertension, and a heart attack.                

Along with the treatment, you might be advised to follow a low-salt diet to lower blood pressure effectively. Lonitab 10 mg is not recommended for use in patients suffering from high blood pressure caused by hormones from a tumor. The medicine should be used with caution in children and elderly patients.   

Do not give this medication to anyone else, even if they have similar symptoms or the same condition. Lonitab helps to reduce blood pressure but does not cure it. Therefore, it is important to take this medicine every day.

Be careful before you drive or use machines or tools until you know how Lonitab affects you. As with blood pressure medicine, Minoxidil 10 mg may cause dizziness or lightheadedness in some people.    

Side effects 

Some common side effects of this medicine include headache, low blood pressure, weight gain, excessive hair growth, low platelet count, fast heart rate, ECG changes, and decreased white blood cells. While taking this medication, the healthcare specialist may advise regularly monitoring its effects and adjusting the dosage as required.
