Lotepred T 0.5%/0.3% Eye Drop
Lotepred T 0.5%/0.3% eye drop is a multiple doses topical anti-inflammatory corticosteroid and antibiotic combination for ophthalmic use. It combines Loteprednol and tobramycin as the active ingredients. Both provide relief from redness, itching, and soreness, thus curbing the infection. The combination medicine reduces redness and swelling by preventing the release of a substance in the body that causes inflammation. Do not wear contact lenses while using this product.
How to use Lotepred T0.5%/0.3% eye drops?
Do not use Lotepred T if the bottle seal is broken or damaged. Wash your hands before using the medicine. Make sure you remove your contact lenses before using the eye drops if you wear them. You should wait for at least fifteen minutes after application before wearing them again. You should not discontinue therapy without medical guidance. Stopping medicine before completing the prescribed period may allow the bacteria to continue their growth, resulting in the return of the infection.
What precautions should be taken?
The anti-infective ophthalmic combination drug Lotepred T is contraindicated in most viral diseases of the cornea and conjunctiva and mycobacterial infection of the eye and fungal diseases. The combination eye drop should not be given to individuals with known hypersensitivity to Tobramycin or Loteprednol. Prolonged use of this medicine may result in glaucoma with damage to the optic nerve and defects in the vision. The combination medicine should be used with caution in the presence of glaucoma.
If the symptoms of bacterial conjunctivitis fail to improve after two days, you may need to be re-evaluated by your ophthalmologist. If the eye drop is used for more than ten days or longer, Intraocular pressure (IOP) should be monitored, even though it is quite difficult to monitor IOP in children and uncooperative patients.
What are the side effects of Lotepred T 0.5%/0.3% eye drop?
Lotepred T may cause eye irritation, watery eyes, and burning sensation. Most of these side effects are temporary and resolve with time. Some people may experience blurred vision or cause other changes in vision for a short period. Do not drive or operate machines until you get a clear vision.
