Omecip 20mg is an acid-reducing drug that lowers the stomach's natural acid production. It is used to treat gastric and duodenal ulcers in adults. Ulcers are caused by medicines like NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs). Omecip can also be taken to stop ulcers from forming if you are consuming NSAIDs. It is also indicated for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease and maintenance of healing of erosive esophagitis in children. It may also be given together with antibiotics to treat gastric ulcers caused by H. pylori infection. An excessive amount of stomach acid caused by a pancreatic tumour is often referred to as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. The medicine is not for immediate relief of heartburn symptoms. Omecip capsules contain Omeprazole 20mg, which belongs to a group of medicines known as proton pump inhibitors, which work by reducing the amount of acid that your stomach releases.
Precautions
Do not take Omecip 20 mg capsules if you are allergic to Omeprazole or any of the ingredients present in the medication. The use of this medication is contraindicated in patients who are allergic to other proton pump inhibitors, such as lansoprazole, pantoprazole, esomeprazole, or rabeprazole. Coadministration with nelfinavir used for HIV infection is not recommended. If you are pregnant, ask your healthcare specialist for advice before you take this medication. The gastrointestinal capsules are excreted in breastmilk, but it is less likely to affect the child when therapeutic doses are used. Your healthcare specialist will decide whether you can take this medication while breastfeeding a baby. Taking Omecip for longer than one year may slightly increase your risk of getting a fracture in a wrist, hip, or spine.
Let your healthcare specialist know if you have osteoporosis or if you are taking corticosteroids, which can increase the risk of osteoporosis. When taking Omeprazole capsules, kidney inflammation may occur. Symptoms of inflammation may include reduced blood and urine volume and/or hypersensitivity reactions such as rash, fever, and joint stiffness. You should immediately report these signs and symptoms to your healthcare specialist. Please tell your physician if you are consuming any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription. Your physician or pharmacist may wish to alter your dose if you are consuming certain medications. These include St john's wort, atazanavir, erlotinib, posaconazole, rifampin, cilostazol, pazopanib, ketoconazole, itraconazole, rilpivirine, etc.
These drugs may affect Omez or how well Omez works. You may need a different amount of medicines, or you may need to consume different medicines. Your physician has more information on drugs to be careful with or avoid while consuming Omez.
