Qutipin 200 mg
Quitpin 200mg tablets contain a substance called Quetiapine, which belongs to a class of medications known as antipsychotics. It helps you get rid of symptoms of schizophrenia, which affects the way people feel, think, and act. The medicine is effective in treating and preventing bipolar disorder from recurring. The antipsychotic drug can be useful in treating several illnesses, such as:
Schizophrenia - It is a mental illness which makes people feel or hear things that are not there, believe things that are untrue or feel depressed, anxious, confused, suspicious, and guilty.
Bipolar depression - During this mental state, an individual feels sad. He/she may feel guilty, lack energy, be depressed, lose appetite and find trouble sleeping.
Mania - People suffering from mania often feel hyperactive, enthusiastic, or sometimes aggressive and disruptive.
Antipsychotic medications like Quetiapine affect certain chemicals that allow communication between nerve cells (neurotransmitters). Brain disorders may develop due to an imbalance in certain brain chemicals, such as dopamine or serotonin. This disruption may cause some of the symptoms you are experiencing. The exact mode of action of Quetiapine is unknown, but it is believed to help balance these chemicals. Qutipin does not cure yoru condition, but it can help manage your symptoms and help you feel better.
Do not take Qutipin tablets 200 mg if you are hypersensitive to, or are allergic to, the active or inactive ingredients of the formulation. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include swelling of the face, tongue, lips, or other parts of the body, itching, rash, hives, wheezing, trouble breathing, fainting, hay-fever syndrome, etc. If any of these allergic reactions trouble you, immediately stop taking the tablets and talk to your health care professional. To help avoid side effects and ensure proper use, speak with your healthcare specialist before taking this Quetiapine formulation. Discuss any health condition you may have, including if you:
- Drink alcohol or use street drugs
- Have had a stroke or are at risk of stroke
- Have a history of high blood pressure
- Have a history of seizures,
- Have diabetes, as Quetiapine may increase yourhigh blood sugar levels
- Have a history of a kidney or liver disorder
- Have low blood count cells in the past
Avoid taking your antipsychotic agent with certain medications, such as dronedarone, chlorpromazine, mefloquine, arsenic trioxide, droperidol, dolasetron, pentamidine, moxifloxacin, tacrolimus, amiodarone, sotalol, dofetilide, citalopram, clarithromycin, erythromycin, escitalopram, etc.
The common side effects that a patient who has a mental disorder like bipolar disorder or schizophrenia may include abnormal muscle movements (difficulty starting muscle movements, restlessness, shaking, or muscle stiffness without pain(m high blood sugar (with symptoms such as increased thirst, excessive hunger, frequent urination, fatigue, headache, and blurred vision, hypotension or low blood pressure (with symptoms such as light-headedness, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, dizziness, fainting, fatigue (that occurs when you go from lying or sitting to standing up).
Other possible side effects include rhinitis, peripheral oedema, pharyngitis, ear pain, neuroleptic malignant syndrome, seizures, sedation, dry mouth, anorexia, dyspepsia, constipation, pancreatitis, weight gain, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, rhabdomyolysis, decreased haemoglobin, and flu-like syndrome. Seek immediate medical help if any of these become bothersome.
If you or your loved one has a mental illness that is mentioned above in this document and prescribed Quitpin 200 mg, then you need to follow all instructions given by your healthcare professional. Your doctor will tell you how many doses will be needed. Depending on your mental state, you will get a prescription that best suits your health condition. Quetiapine tablet is usually taken once or twice daily. You need to swallow the tablet with a full glass of water. The medication may be taken before or after consuming food.
For schizophrenia, the recommended starting dose is 25mg twice a day. The recommended dose range is 25 to 400 mg twice a day.
For the treatment of Bipolar disorders, the usual recommended dosing regimen is 50mg on day 1, 100mg on day 2, 200mg on day 3, and 300mg on day and onwards taken once a day. Your healthcare professional may increase your dose to 400mg on day 5 and up to 600mg from day 8 onwards, depending on your response and tolerability. The maximum recommended dose is 600mg a day.
If you have hepatic impairment or are an elderly patient, you will start at a lower dose. Do not make any changes in your dosing regimen without checking with your health care professional. It takes time to feel better, and you should expect some of yoru symptoms to improve slowly over the initial weeks of the treatment. Continue taking your medication for as long as your health care professional tells you. Do not stop the treatment without checking with an expert. Stopping the medication abruptly may make yoru experience withdrawal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and insomnia. You must take these medications even if you feel your condition has improved. Make sure that you complete the treatment.
Missed dose of Qutipin 200mg: Skip the missed dose if the time to take the next dose is near. You can resume your normal dosing schedule and take the next dose on time. Don’t forget to inform your health care professional about the missed dose.
