Razo 20mg is a prescription treatment for adults with acid-related diseases of the stomach and intestines, such as acid reflux, peptic ulcer, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. When using medical guidance, symptoms are relieved, and healing is promoted. The medicine contains the active ingredient Rabeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor. The class of medications reduces the amount of acid the stomach produces to provide symptomatic relief and allows healing to take place. This way, your food will be digested normally.
Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD): GERD occurs when stomach contents, like acid, flow back into the oesophagus (food pipe). This condition can cause a burning sensation in the chest that may rise into the throat, also called heartburn. Rabeprazole also helps prevent recurrent reflux esophagitis.
Gastric and duodenal ulcers: A gastric ulcer develops in the stomach, while a duodenal ulcer occurs in the duodenum, which is a tube leading out of the stomach. These ulcers can be caused by excess stomach acid. Those with a peptic ulcer also harbour Helicobacter pylori in their stomachs. Your health care specialist may also prescribe a course of antibiotics such as clarithromycin and amoxicillin to treat your condition. When this gastrointestinal tablet is combined with antibiotics, the combination therapy will destroy Helicobacter pylori and allow your ulcers to heal.
Chronic gastritis: The presence of H. pylori bacteria can cause stomach inflammation, leading to pain, nausea, and vomiting. All these are the signs of chronic gastritis. When gastrointestinal tablets are taken with antibiotics, they help destroy bacteria and promote healing of the stomach.
Do not take Razo 20mg if you are allergic to the pharmaceutical compound Rabeprazole or other proton pump inhibitors. Rabeprazole should not be used if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. You need to discuss the risks and benefits of the drug before starting the treatment. Do not drive during the treatment with Rabeprazole as it may cause drowsiness. Avoid taking Rabeprazole with ketoconazole, warfarin, digoxin, methotrexate, and antiviral drugs (such as nelfinavir, atazanavir, and saquinavir), as these can interact negatively with Rabeprazole and harm your body. Also, inform your doctor if you are taking any other medication besides Rabeprazole. Using Razo 20 mg for a longer duration may cause growth in your stomach, and may increase the risk of fractures of the waist, spine and hip.
Side effects of 20mg
Diarrhoea and headache are the most common side effects experienced with Razo 20mg. Less common side effects are itchiness, rash and dizziness. If any of these side effects become bothersome, talk to your doctor. When combined with antibiotics, you develop symptoms such as severe diarrhoea with or without fever, tenderness, abdominal pain, and bowel inflammation. If this occurs, discontinue medication and seek medical help. If you develop symptoms of low magnesium levels, your healthcare specialist may stop the treatment.
Inform your healthcare specialist straight away if you have dizziness, seizures, jitteriness, abnormal or fast heart rate, spasms of the hands and feet, blood in stool, or muscle weakness, spasms of the voice box, new or worsening joint pain, jerking movement or shaking, or a fracture (broken bone).
How to use Razo 20mg?
Razo 20mg should be taken once a day, preferably before breakfast. The recommended dose for benign gastric ulcers, GORD, and duodenal ulcers is one tablet daily. For GORD maintenance treatment, the recommended dose is 1 Rabeprazole tablet (10 or 20 mg) daily. The recommended dose for Zollinger-Ellison syndrome is 3 Razo 20 mg tablets daily, taken as a single dose. Depending on how you react to this dose, the doctor may increase it to up to 3 Rabeprazole 20 mg tablets twice a day, if required. Take the tablets as long as your physician recommends.
Overdose: Immediately call the doctor in case of an overdose of Rabeprazole.
Missed Dose: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible. If you missed a dose, take it as soon as you remember, but skip the missed dose and take the next dose at the correct time.
