Ramistar H 10/12.5 mg
Ramistar H 10/12.5 mg is used to treat high blood pressure. It is a combination product containing two active ingredients: Ramipril and Hydrochlorothiazide. Ramipril is categorized under the class of medication known as ACE inhibitors. The class of drugs works by relaxing the blood vessel and making the heart pump more efficiently. Hydrochlorothiazide, on the other hand, is a diuretic (water pill) that helps control blood pressure by eliminating excess salt and water from the body.
How to use
Ramistar H combines Ramipril and Hydrochlorothiazide, which is not meant to be used initially for high blood pressure. The medicine is a tablet to swallow with a glass of water. The recommended dose is one tablet once daily before or after consuming food. The dose generally depends on the response to the medicine and your kidney function.
Precautions
Do not take Ramistar H if you are allergic to Ramipril, hydrochlorothiazide, or other medicine ingredients. Avoid taking this combination of medicine if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or not passing urine. Taking Aliskiren while you are already taking Ramistar H can cause side effects. Do not take this combination medicine if you have diabetes, kidney disease, low blood pressure, reduced liver function, reduced kidney function, high potassium levels in the bloodstream, congestive heart failure, or are taking a combination medicine- sacubitril and valsartan. Before starting a new medicine, inform your doctor of any medical conditions.
Side effects
Contact your doctor if you develop these side effects and they are severe or bothersome. Your doctor may be able to advise you on managing side effects. The side effects are drowsiness, constipation, muscle pain, headache, muscle stiffness, hair loss, nasal congestion, flushing, fatigue, changes to sensory perception, trouble sleeping, unusual tiredness, sensitivity to sunlight, and unusual tiredness or weakness.
