Rivaflo 20mg tablets are used to prevent the formation of blood clots due to a certain irregular heartbeat (atrial fibrillation) or after hip or knee replacement surgery. It may also be given to prevent the formation of blood clots in high-risk patients with limited mobility during their hospital stay and after discharge.
In addition, Rivaflo is used to treat blood clots in the veins of the lungs and legs as well as to prevent the blood clots from forming again. This medicine may be used in children to prevent blood clots from forming after certain heart surgery. The medicine contains the active ingredient Rivaroxaban, an anticoagulant that blocks certain clotting proteins in your blood.
Before taking Rivaflo 20mg, let your doctor know if you are allergic to Rivaroxaban or have any other allergies. This medicine may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Before using this medication, tell your doctor of your medical history, especially of kidney disease, liver disorder, cancer, bleeding problems, artificial heart valves, stroke, blood disorders, frequent falls, certain eye problems, a certain clotting disorder, and certain hereditary enzyme problems (galactose intolerance, and Lapp lactase deficiency). Your dentists should know that you take Rivaflo tablets before having surgery or dental procedures.
This anticoagulant medication may cause stomach bleeding. Regular alcohol consumption will increase your risk of stomach bleeding. Limit alcohol intake. Ask your doctor about how much alcohol you can consume safely. Be cautious while using sharp objects like safety razors and nail cutters to lower the chance of getting cut, bruised, or injured. Also, avoid sports activities because if you fall or injure yourself, especially if you hit your head, contact your doctor immediately. He will check you for hidden bleeding that could be life-threatening. Elderly patients may be more sensitive to the side effects of this medication, especially bleeding.
Side effects of Rivaflo 20 mg Tablet
Easy bruising or minor bleeding may occur. This anticoagulant drug may also cause serious bleeding if it affects your blood clotting protein too much. Inform your doctor if you have any signs of serious bleeding, including nosebleeds that occur often or don’t stop, unusual weakness, tiredness, pain/swelling/discomfort, prolonged bleeding from cuts or gums, unusual bruising, or unusually heavy menstrual flow. Coughing up blood, dark urine, vomit that looks like blood or coffee grounds, severe headache, dizziness, black/bloody/tarry stools, difficulty swallowing.
Get immediate medical help if you have any signs of serious bleeding, including confusion, trouble speaking, vision changes, or trouble speaking on one side of the body.
