Telma 80 mg is an antihypertensive agent used to treat high blood pressure. It is prescribed to people 55 years and older to help reduce the risk of heart disease or death. Telmisartan is the active component in the medication, which is thought to block the action of certain substances that cause blood vessels to narrow and increase blood pressure. Telma may be used as a monotherapy or as a combination therapy with hydrochlorothiazide. By lowering blood pressure, Telma prevents heart complications, including death due to heart disease in patients older than 55 years of age with previous stroke, coronary artery disease (CAD), previous transient ischaemic attack, or diabetes with evidence of end-organ damage.

  • Telma 80 mg is not recommended for use in pregnant women. Taking Telmisartan during pregnancy can cause fetal harm (injury or even death). Take Telmisartan Telma exactly as your healthcare provider instructed. You can take the tablets before or after having food.

  1. For high blood pressure

The usual dose of Telmisartan Telma for hypertension is one 40 mg tablet once a day. If you still have elevated blood pressure levels after 4 to 8 weeks of initiating treatment, your healthcare specialist may increase your dose to 80 mg. Also, your healthcare specialist may prescribe a dose of 40 mg once daily if you have liver disease.
