Udiliv 150mg

Udiliv 150mg contains the active ingredient Ursodeoxycholic Acid, naturally occurring bile acid, to treat different chronic liver diseases. It influences the composition of the bile, by which cholesterol gallstones can be dissolved. It decreases the cholesterol secretion into bile, as indicated by a decline in the cholesterol fraction of biliary lipids. It is likely that Ursodeoxycholic either decreases the intestinal absorption of cholesterol or increases its conversion to bile acids. The medicine effectively treats children aged 6 years to less than 18 years with hepatobiliary disorders associated with cystic fibrosis. A high dose of this gallstone dissolving agent is more effective and produce a greater reduction in cholesterol saturation index. When used orally, the medicine reduces cholesterol ratio to bile salt plus phospholipids in bile, causing desaturation of cholesterol saturated bile. The exact mode of action of the drug is still not known.

How to use (infographics and instructions)

Udiliv 150mg should be used under the doctor’s supervision. You should check with your doctor if you have any doubt about the usage of the medicine. Your doctor will advise you on the correct dose that suits your condition. Take the tablets orally with a glass of water. The recommended dose to dissolve cholesterol-rich gallstones in adults is three or four tablets daily. Take the dose with meals. However, the dose may vary depending on the weight of the patient. The dose for children is calculated according to the body weight and is 8 to 10 mg per kg of body weight per day. To elderly patients, doctors prescribe a dose depending on their body weight.
