Valgan 450 mg is available in the form of tablet for oral administration. It contains Valganciclovir, which belongs to a group of medicines that directly prevent the growth of viruses. The active ingredient Valganciclovir is changed into ganciclovir when absorbed by the body. Ganciclovir prevents the growth of a virus called cytomegalovirus from developing and multiplying an affecting the healthy cells. Individuals with a weakened immune system are especially at risk as the cytomegalovirus (CMV) can cause an infection in the body’s organs. The condition can be life-threatening. Valgan tablet is effective against CMV infections of the retina of the eye in adults with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). It is useful in preventing CMV infections in adults and children who are affected with CMV and have just undergone organ transplant from the one who got CMV.

Usage Instructions

Always take Valgan 25 mg tablet as your doctor has instructed you. Check with your doctor if you are not how often you need to take it or how long you need to take it.  You need to be careful while handling the tablet. Do not crush or break the tablet. Be sure to swallow with a glass of water after taking a meal. You must stick to the number of tablets as advised by your doctor. The usual dose of Valgan is two tablets once daily. Your doctor will advise you the dose and duration of the treatment. If your eye condition worsens while you are receiving Valgan tablet, your doctor may prescribe a different medication to treat the CMV infection. If you are an elderly patient, then discuss the risks and benefits of taking esomeprazole. If you are already suffering from a kidney disorder, your doctor may instruct you a lower dose. Here, it is important to note the number of tablets prescribed by your doctor. Be sure to take the prescribed amount only. Contact your doctor straight away if you have taken more tablets than the recommended amount. Taking too many tablets can increase the risk of side effects. Overdose can have a direct impact on your blood and kidneys. You may need immediate medical attention if you develop a tremor, hives, dry skin, deafness, blood in urine, chest pain, infertility in men, uneven heartbeat, shaking, etc. 

Precautions

Do not take Valgan 145 mg if you are allergic to Valganciclovir or any other ingredients of the medicine. Take special care with people who are having low numbers of blood cells (WBCs, and RBCs), have problems with their kidneys, or are having radiotherapy.  

Side Effects

Like all medicines, Valgan can cause side effects; however, not everybody affected by the side effects associated with the use of ganciclovir.  People using Valgan may have a sudden and severe allergic reaction to medicine. The symptoms of an allergic reaction include an itchy skin rash, swelling of the throat, difficulty swallowing or breathing, and swelling of the hands, ankles, or feet.  Tell your doctor right away if you notice serious side effects related to the drug. Your doctor may ask you to stop taking the drug and may need urgent medical treatment.
