Xidorin 2.5 mg
Xidorin 2.5 mg is a prescription medicine for certain patients with low blood pressure when in a standing position. It is especially effective for those whose living activities are severely impaired even after implementing other therapies. Xidorin has the active ingredient Midodrine, which increases blood pressure by causing blood vessels to tighten.
How to use Xidorin 2.5 mg?
Treatment with Xidorin should be started under medical supervision so that your doctor can keep a close eye on your blood pressure levels. The usual starting dose is 2.5 mg thrice daily. It is best to take medicine during the daytime when you are likely to be upright mostly. Avoid taking the tablet after the evening meal or less than four hours before bedtime. Seek immediate medical help if you suspect an overdose. Symptoms of an overdose include increased blood pressure, difficulty urinating, goosebumps, and a feeling of being cold.
What precautions should be taken?
Xidorin should not be prescribed to patients with certain medical conditions. These include peripheral vascular disease, hypertension, severe heart disease, enlarged prostate gland causing difficulty passing urine, urinary retention (when the bladder can’t empty completely), overactive thyroid, pheochromocytoma (adrenaline-producing tumours). Midodrine should be used with caution in combination with certain drugs. These include digoxin, steroids, antihistamines, anti-depressants, thyroid hormones, and appetite suppressants.
Patients taking Xidorin and considering having a baby should discuss this with their doctor before becoming pregnant. It is recommended patients receiving Midodrine formulation should not become pregnant, and if the pregnancy occurs accidentally, then the drug should be discontinued as soon as possible.
Midodrine should not be used without first talking to your doctor if you are allergic to Midodrine hydrochloride or any of the nonactive ingredients of the medicine.
What are the side effects of Xidorin 2.5 mg?
The most common side effects of Xidorin are high blood pressure when sitting or lying position, goosebumps, urinary problem, dizziness, headache, nausea, pain, rash, shortness of breath, abnormal loss of strength, hair disease, and pain in the upper area of the stomach. Other serious side effects include abnormal heartbeat, loss of vision, and increased dizziness.
