Foracort Forte Rotacaps - 12mcg 400 mcg is a combination drug of Formoterol and Budesonide.Budesonide is a corticoid medicine having anti-inflammatory mode of action while Formoterol Fumarate is a drug that causes widening of the bronchi which works by relaxing the airways muscles thus helps in breathing. This combination medication is prescribed for asthma prevention; treatment of (COPD) Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and a number of other health conditions not mentioned here.

Formoterol is used to treat: Person breathing with whistling or rattling sound in the chest, as a air passage blockage in lungs, short of breath and breathing problems caused by asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (COPD). It is also prescribed to treat bronchospasm in people with night time asthma.

Budesonide is in form of an inhaler used to cure asthma. It is also prescribed for treatment of various allergies of the nose, throat or the lungs.

What is Foracort inhaler used for?

It contains two active ingredients delivered via a single inhaler. The formulation is marketed under the trade name Symbicort and others.

The combined mode of action of Budesonide and Formoterol Fumarate is typically prescribed for those people having attacks of asthma frequently. In addition, it also prescribed to cure worsening chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or flare-ups.

What does Foracort Rotacaps contain?

The combination formulation Foracort contains Budesonide and Formoterol fumarate as the main active ingredients. Each spray contains 400 mcg of Budesonide and 12 mcg of Formoterol fumarate.

What are the side effects of Foracort inhaler?

Some known side effects of Budesonide and Formoterol Fumarate are nausea, vomiting, dizziness, headache, diarrhea, and dryness of mouth, pain in sinus, cough, runny nose, or change in voice. Consult your physician if these conditions persist or gets worse.

Allergic reactions such as breathing difficulty, hive, or swollen face, lips, or throat. Get in touch with your physician as soon as possible in all such cases. What medications interact with Foracort inhaler?

Please tell your physician about any medication you might be taking currently, such as HIV medications like atazanvir, ritonavir, indinavir; any diuretic drug such as amiodarone(Cordarone); MAO suppressors like phenelzine, isocarboxazid, tranylcypromine, or others; drugs for depression like fluoxetine, imipramine, desipramine, or others; antifungals medicine like itraconazoleor ketoconazole; or beta blockers like metoprolol, carvedilol,atenolol, or others.

 There could be other drug interactions as well. You must be examined properly by your physician and appropriate medicine must be prescribed to you as per your medical history or health condition.

When should Foracort not be used?   

  • Foracort rotacaps -400/12 mcg should not be prescribed to patients having sensitivity to Budesonide Formoterol fumarate.
  • For children less than five years of age this medicine is not recommended.
  • It is contraindicated in status asthmaticus and acute attack of asthma. 

How should Foracort be used?

• This medicine should be taken as prescribed by your physician. Read all instructions on the leaflet that comes with the medicine should be made for complete details.
