Hydroxyquine or HQTOR 200 mg is useful in patients with the following disorders who have not responded satisfactorily to medicinal tehrapies with less potential for serious side effects:
- Lupus erythematosus- It is an autoimmune disorder in which the body’s immune system attacks its tissues, causing inflammation and tissue damage in the affected organs. It affects joints, the brain, lungs, skin, kidneys, and blood vessels.
- Acute or chronic rheumatoid arthritis.

HQTOR 200 mg comes in tablets for oral administration. The dose may vary from person to person. One can take medicine with a glass of milk or after a meal to decrease the nausea feeling. Do not break, crush, or chew the tablet. If you have been prescribed HQTOR for skin problems that are sensitive to sunlight, only take HQTOR during periods of high exposure to sunlight. The dose usually depends upon the body weight. Consult your doctor if you have been taking Hydroxyquine for rheumatoid arthritis for a longer duration and think it’s not working for you. It is important to complete the full course of treatment which may take up to six months for full effects. It is best to take Hydroxychloroquine with meals to decrease gastrointestinal upset and biter after taste. Avoid alcohol consumption during the treatment.

If you have psoriasis, alcoholism, porphyria, dermatitis, liver disorder, G-6-PD deficiency, and other blood-related disorders, you must inform your doctor.
Hydroxyquine could be specifically sensitive to children. Thus, it must be kept out of reach from children. if you have been using this medication for a longer period, your doctor will recommend you have frequent eye examinations as hydroxychloroquine sulfate can cause eye problems with long term use.
Side effects associated with Hydroxychloroquine use include vomiting, diarrhoea, nausea, stomach pain, loss of appetite, headache, dizziness, mood swings, rashes on the skin, and pigmentation. If a patient develops blurred vision, cannot recognize colours, or has eye disorders, immediately stop treatment and inform the doctor. Also, a sudden severe drop in blood glucose may occur.
