Ibugesic 200 mg provides fast and effective relief of pain from headaches (mild to moderate migraines and tension headaches), menstrual cramps, toothaches (including dental pain and dental extraction), inflammation associated with arthritis, muscle strain, and bone and joint pain (such as back pain). It is also effective in reducing fever and offering relief from body aches associated with the common cold and flu. The medication is believed to provide long-lasting relief for up to eight hours for fever and up to six hours for pain. It begins to work fast and treat pain where it starts.

The active ingredient of the medicine is Ibuprofen, which belongs to the class of medications known as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). NSAIDs work by blocking the activity of prostaglandins that are involved in the development of inflammation (swelling) and pain.

Precautions with Ibuprofen tablet

Here are the contraindications to the use of Ibugesic tablets. Patients with the following conditions should use Ibuprofen with caution, considering all contraindications and potential side effects.

  • Patients who are allergic to Ibuprofen, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), or any other ingredients present in the formulation.
  • Severely impaired or deteriorating impairment or active liver disease.
  • Ibugesic should not be used in the presence of hyperkalaemia (having too much potassium in the bloodstream).
  • Children with kidney disorders or who have suffered significant fluid loss.
  • The medication should not be used during pregnancy.
  • The painkiller medicine should not be used in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus, as an allergic reaction with fever may occur, particularly if Ibugesic has been used previously.

Other warnings and precautions:

Patients with high blood pressure and heart disease should avoid consuming this medicine unless directed by a healthcare provider. Caution should be taken in patients with heart failure, high blood pressure, and other conditions causing fluid retention. Older adults and those with impaired kidney function, liver impairment, and those taking diuretics are more likely to suffer renal toxicity. In the presence of persistent urinary symptoms, such as dysuria, bladder pain, urinary frequency, and cystitis, the medication should be stopped immediately. Caution in patients prone to develop gastrointestinal tract infection, particularly those with a history of diverticulosis (when multiple sac-like protrusions develop along the gastrointestinal tract), history of peptic ulcer, or other inflammatory conditions of the gastrointestinal tract, including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. The use of Ibugesic during nursing should be avoided.

Serious drug interactions include:

  • Use with acetaminophen may increase the risk of adverse kidney effects
  • The use of anticoagulants may increase the risk of gastrointestinal effects such as bleeding.
  • The use of high blood pressure medications may interfere with blood pressure regulation.
  • The use of diabetes medicines, such as oral agents and insulin, can make you more likely to develop hypoglycaemia (very low blood pressure).
  • The use of lithium may increase the risk of its toxicity.
  • Coadministration with diuretics may reduce the diuretic effect of the medication.
  • Use with acetylsalicylic acid or other NSAIDs, including Ibugesic, may have additive adverse effects.
