Iverectol 12mg contains a medicine called Ivermectin. This is a type of medicine that is prescribed for infections caused by parasites.

It is effective in treating a variety of infections, including:

• An infection of your gut called intestinal strongyloidiasis
• Skin mites or scabies. This may cause severe itching. Treatment should initiate only when the diagnosis of scabies has been established in clinical examination.
• An infection of your blood is called microfilaraemia due to lymphatic filariasis. This type of infection is caused by an immature worm called Wuchereria bancrofti.

Ivermectin will not stop you from getting one of these infections. It falls under the drug category anthelmintic, which works in the body by destroying the developing worms. It is not effective against adult worms.

Ivermectin has been shown to inhibit the replication in specific infections; therefore, it is important to use this drug under the guidance of a doctor.

You must follow your doctor’s advice while receiving Ivermectin 12 mg. Check with your doctor if in doubt about the correct dosing regimen. Your doctor will decide the correct dose for you, depending on your medical condition. Give the tablet in crushed form for children under six years of age and ask your kid to swallow it with a glass full of water. In general, treatment consists of a single dose. Your doctor may ask you to swallow the tablet on an empty stomach. You should avoid eating within two hours before or after taking this medicine. This may be because food affects the absorption of this drug in your body.

Precautions (warning, allergy, things to remember)  

Do not take Ivermectol 12 mg if you are allergic to Ivermectin or any other anthelmintic drug components. In general, if you develop unusual symptoms that suddenly occur just after initiating the treatment, you may predict that you are allergic to that medicine. The symptoms may be like rash, hive, or fever. You must not take this medication if you are hypersensitive to it. You should discuss this with your doctor before taking an Ivermectin formulation.

Before initiating treatment, tell your doctor if you have a medical history of a weak immune system or if you are at an increased risk of getting an eye worm infection.  The combined use of diethylcarbamazine to treat a co-infection with onchocerca volvulus can make you more likely to develop severe side effects. The medicine is not recommended for use to prevent infestations with topical parasites. It should not be used to treat adult parasitic worms, and it may only be used under the advice of a doctor. The safety of using this anthelmintic drug in children weighing less than 15 kg has not been evaluated. An elderly patient should exercise caution while receiving Ivermectol tabs as clinical reports reflect a greater frequency of decreased renal, hepatic, or cardiac function.  Side effects of Ivermectol 12mg

If you get any side effects, please inform your doctor straight away. While receiving Ivermectol, you may develop liver disease, blood in urine, nausea, vomiting, tremors, headache, sweating or fever, muscle pain, discomfort, or pain in your testicles.
