Many effective eye drops are available to treat glaucoma, defined by elevated internal eye pressure, called intraocular pressure. Medicated ophthalmic solutions are formulated to use twice daily to lower internal pressure to prevent optic nerve damage.

Bimatoprost is a pharmaceutical ingredient that reduces elevated pressure (IOP) in patients with ocular hypertension and open-angle glaucoma. It is a synthetic prostamide analog which exerts its mode of action by mimicking the effects of naturally occurring chemical prostanoids. The active ingredient has been demonstrated to lower intraocular pressure by increasing the outflow of aqueous fluid secreted by the eye.

The action of Bimatoprost:

Bimatoprost is a saturated fatty acid, similar to hormones. It is supplied as an active ingredient in eye drops to treat glaucoma. The solution is instilled into the eye to help maintain the balance of the inflow and outflow of ocular fluid in the eye. The active agent accelerates intraocular pressure reduction and reduces the pressure on the eyes. It is an ideal option to lower raised pressure within your eyes.

Many people call this a cosmetic ingredient and often use it to increase the length of their eyelashes.
