Drug addiction has affected almost every country in the world and the western countries are untouched. Talking about America, the country is facing this problem since several decades. The official data shows that opioid and heroin addiction have become an epidemic in the USA over the last 15 years. The requirement of rehabilitation of substance abuse in the USA is also growing fast.

Drug Addiction in America:

 In 2013, a survey report of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) revealed that an estimated 24.6 million Americans aged 12 or older (9.4% of the population) were involved in the illicit drug consumption. It shows a considerable increment in the number of cases registered in 2002 (8.3%). The gravity of the problem can be understood by the information claiming that most of the users were for the first time in their teenage. The country has been witnessing about 7,800 new users are added per day to the drug addiction cases and this age group accounts more than half (54.1%) of the total number of teenagers.

If it is to mention about the death toll due to drug addiction in the USA, only heroin-related deaths were increased by 439% in 2014 from 1999. Barring a few states, the drug addiction deaths have seen a sharp increment across the country. The total number of deaths due to drug overdose was about 47,055 only in 2014 in the country. Therefore, there is an urgent need to increase the Rehabilitation of substance abuse in the USA to save the generation from deteriorating further.

Drug Rehab Services:

 Drug addiction treatment typically involves several components that are directed to improve the victims of drug abuse. Its treatment aims to restore the physical and mental strength of the patients through inpatient and outpatient methods. It also includes various behavioral and pharmacological approaches to look after the patients.

Rehabilitation of Substance Abuse in the USA:

 There are more than 15000 specialized drug treatment centers across the United States providing psychological counseling, behavioral therapy, medication, self-help services, case management, and other types of facilities to treat the people with substance use disorders.

These rehab centers take the cases of drug abuse and addiction with the help of specialized services. The physicians, counselors, psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, self-help groups and social workers assist the patients to recover from the drug addiction. Many of the patients take specific treatment services through outpatient, inpatient, and residential settings as well as a number of therapeutic interventions to come out of the addiction cycle.

Policy Support for Drug Rehabilitation Services:

 Drug abuse patients in the USA also get support from the private and employer-subsidized health programs to reduce the influences of illicit drugs. The local, State and Federal governments try to increase and improve the treatment facilities by providing fund support to many centers of rehabilitation of substance abuse in the USA. Health Care Reform (Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010, “ACA”) also recommends increasing the facilities for the drug abuse treatment services. This Act offers an opportunity to study how innovations in service delivery, organization structures, and financing can help to improve the condition of drug abuse patients.
