Meals are a very important part of our day to day life. We eat to maintain our energy and metabolism to do the work. However, right proportions of meals can play a very important role to boost your metabolism.

Most of the people all over the world are accustomed to eat three meals a day in the form of breakfast, lunch and dinner. Some people like to snack in between while some consume mini meals. It is often said that people who eat mini meals tends to lose weight faster and their metabolism is stronger than those people who eat maxi meals.

Metabolism:

Metabolism is physical and chemical process that is occurring in the body. This chemical process in the living organism helps to utilize the food in the tissue for growth and energy production.

Some people are able to burn the calories taken by them more easily than others who have slow metabolic rates. However, there are no definite numbers to show that this metabolic rate is high and this is low. Our body does the best it can do with the every kind of food that we take in. It is either used up, stored or eliminated etc.

Ways to speed up the metabolism:

If you are feeling that your body has become adapted to metabolize the things slowly then you can boost your metabolism or speed it up by doing any of the following:

Adding calories to your diet as the more calories you will take, the more quickly your body will work to burn those calories

Increase the movement (mobility is known to increase the metabolism of the body)

Eating more frequently or within the span of every 3-4 hours are considered very good to improve the metabolism

Improving metabolism by eating frequently:

It is well known and suggested by various researchers all over the world that eating frequent meals in a day is very good for the health of the body. It is good to improve the metabolism and lose weight more easily and maintain the blood sugar levels in the body.

Best recommendations to boost metabolism by food is that one should eat within an hour of waking up to start the day with balanced sugar levels and then eat after every four hours. One should stop eating three hours prior to sleep time.

Improving metabolism by eating frequently

You can fix your metabolism with extra food items:

If you are tired of crash diets, but are not able to lose weight and if you are the one who tend to gain weight very easily then you can try mini meals with the following tips:

Convert your meal routine into 6-8 mini meals in a day

Add approximately 25 calories of the same kind of food in the 3-4 meals that you eat in a day (for example, cut an apple or pear into four pieces and eat a single piece in each of the 3 or 4 meals)

Take at least 25 calories of proteins and raw vegetables or fruits at every other meal that you eat

Make sure to make the changes in the meals of the same type every other day (for example keep rotating different kind of fruits in your every other day)

You should try to gain more calories from proteins like tofu instead of fat calories.

This is the way you can eat healthy food items and that too without fear of having a low metabolism to digest the food.

The advantage of eating smaller meals, more frequently:

The thought behind the idea of eating smaller meals throughout the day means that you need to regulate the blood sugar and your metabolic rate simultaneously, so smaller meals make you feel less hungry and your appetite is in control. By eating smaller meals your body gets time to metabolize the food that you consume and keep your appetite fuller for a long time.

If you are habitual of consuming approximately 2000 calories then you are suggested to break down your calories into three meals (500-600 calories each) and two snacks (100-200 calories each).

So, if you are among those who are willing to get out of this vicious circle of eating and gaining weight, then it is the right time to consider not only what you eat but when you eat also. Eat more frequent and smaller meals to reduce the stress on your system and boost your metabolism.
