Its other inactive ingredients include lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, polyvinyl alcohol, microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, polyethene glycol, titanium dioxide, talc, and iron oxides.

How to take Onglyza medicine:

There is no specific dosage recommendation of Onglyza tablets but it is advised to take its tablets under prescription. Its tablets are available in doses of 2.5 mg and 5 mg. Patients with moderate or severe renal impairment should take an advice of a doctor before taking this medicine. You can take diabetes medication Onglyza tablets orally once daily, regardless of the meal.

Precautions:

You should not take Onglyza tablets if you are allergic to any of its ingredients. It may render some serious allergic reactions such as swelling of the face, lips or throat, itching, flaking, skin peeling, difficulty swallowing or breathing, hives, and rash. Do not consume alcohol during the medication course as it can increase the risk of severe adverse effects. It is also not recommended in pregnancy unless necessary; better to discuss with your doctor before taking this medicine. And breastfeeding mothers should also avoid taking Onglyza tablets.

Side Effects Onglyza:

Although Onglyza medication is largely safe to take under prescription, its side effects cannot be written off. The possible side effects of the  Onglyza 2.5 mg tablets include:

  • Inflammation of the pancreas
  • Join pain
  • Hypersensitivity Reactions
  • Severe and disabling arthralgia
  • Hypoglycemia
  • Skin swelling
  • A headache
  • Urinary tract infection
  • Upper respiratory tract infection
