Many effective eye drops are available to treat glaucoma, a condition characterised by elevated internal eye pressure, known as intraocular pressure. Medicated ophthalmic solutions are formulated for use twice daily to lower internal pressure and prevent optic nerve damage.

Bimatoprost is a pharmaceutical ingredient that reduces elevated pressure (IOP) in patients with ocular hypertension and open-angle glaucoma. It is a synthetic prostamide analogue that exerts its mode of action by mimicking the effects of naturally occurring prostaglandins and thromboxanes, collectively referred to as prostanoids. The active ingredient has been demonstrated to lower intraocular pressure by increasing the outflow of aqueous fluid secreted by the eye.

The action of Bimatoprost:

Bimatoprost is a synthetic prostaglandin similar to naturally occurring hormones. It is supplied as an active ingredient in eye drops to treat glaucoma. The Careprost bimatoprost solution is instilled into the eye to help maintain the balance of the inflow and outflow of ocular fluid. The active agent accelerates the reduction of intraocular pressure and lowers eye pressure. It is an ideal option to lower raised pressure within your eyes.

Many people refer to this as a cosmetic ingredient and often use it to lengthen their eyelashes.
